DetroGaz LLC is a company specializing in the production and supply of technical gases. Its gas cylinders are located in three cities: Chelyabinsk, Korkino and Kopeisk. In order to measure the level of gas remaining in the cylinder, an employee of DetroGaz LLC goes around them, writes indicators in his journal, and then returns to the main office. Using a computer, enters data into the system and, if necessary, sends a request for replenishment. The operation is repeated every day.
Problems that we identified at the enterprise
- Measuring the gas level takes too much time;
- Extra costs for fuel and lubricants;
- Lack of quick response in case of emergency;
- Downtime of empty cylinders due to late submission of applications.
We analyzed the business processes of the company and modeled them - built the “as is” model. Then they proposed a solution - a system for dispatching load cells, which will automatically transmit data from the sensor to the main office system. In the event of a low gas level or an emergency, the system will issue an urgent message on the computer and duplicate it via SMS.
We modeled our solution to the problem in the “to be” business process. This made it possible to visually show the customer exactly how the company’s work will change. After that, we assessed the risks of the project and calculated its economy - cost, payback period and economic effect. We agreed with the customer and got to work.
Summary
- 30% cost reduction;
- No downtime;
- Possibility of quick response during an emergency.
We did not just prepare a project plan, we selected the right equipment, programmed the system, designed a network for data transfer, and carried out installation work to implement the project.
